DVIGear is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. For the processing described here, DVIGear is the controller, and you can reach us at the address above or through the "Contact us" section at the end.

What this policy covers

This policy covers the information we collect through dvigear.com. It does not cover other companies' websites we link to, including our LinkedIn, YouTube, and X pages. Those are governed by their own policies.

What we collect

What you send us. When you contact us, ask for support, or request a quote, we collect the information you give us including: your name, your contact details, your company, and what you tell us about your project or product, including the products on a quote request.

You are not obliged to give us any of it. Without a name and an email address we cannot reply to you, but nothing else follows from leaving a field blank.

What your browser sends when you visit. Like most websites, ours records ordinary technical information about each request, such as: your IP address, the page you asked for, the date and time, your browser and device type, and the page that referred you. This is standard server logging and it happens whether or not you fill in a form.

What we do not collect. There are no user accounts on this site, so there is nothing to sign up for and no password to store. We do not take payment on this site, so we never request or see a card number. We use Google Analytics, described below, to see how the site is used in aggregate, but we do not use it to build a profile on any visitors to our website.

What we ask you not to send. Please do not send us sensitive personal information, such as information about your health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, or religious beliefs. We do not need this information to answer any questions you may have.

Why we collect it, and our legal basis

We use what you type into a form to answer you: to provide a price quotation, to work through a support case, or to reply to a sales question. We also keep a record of the conversation so that the next person who picks up your case knows what was already said.

We may also use your email address to write to you about DVIGear products, promotions, or programs related to what you asked us about. How that works, and how to stop it, is set out under "Marketing email" below.

We use server logs to keep the site running, to diagnose faults, and to defend against abuse.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the law requires us to name the reason we are allowed to handle your information. Ours are our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us and in running a secure website, and, where you have asked us for a quote, the steps we have to take before we can enter into a contract with you.

Who else handles your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Like any company, we use other companies to run parts of our business, and some of them handle personal information on our behalf: cloud and hosting partners, software providers, email and marketing providers, and our professional advisers. Each of them handles your information only to provide its service to us, under terms that require it to protect the information and not to use it for its own purposes.

Two services run inside your browser when you use this site, so we name them. Google provides the analytics described under "Analytics" below. Cloudflare provides the check that confirms a form submission comes from a person and not an automated script, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

We will disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our staff, or our customers.

We may use or share information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it can no longer identify you.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets two kinds of cookies: the Google Analytics cookies, which let Google Analytics tell whether a visit comes from a browser it has counted before, and one cookie of our own that records your answer to the cookie banner so the banner does not return on every visit. None of them carries your name, email address, or other personal details.

If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, nothing analytics-related runs until you answer the banner shown on your first visit. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal and you have not yet answered, we treat that as a decline. A "Cookie choices" link in the footer lets you change your answer at any time. Declining does not limit what you can do on the site.

When you add a product to your quote cart, the list of model numbers and quantities is saved in your own browser so the cart survives if you close the tab. It stays on your device, contains no personal information, and is not sent to us until you submit a quote request. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited and in what order, the country and type of device a visit comes from, and which search terms or links brought people here. Google Analytics sets the cookies described above and receives your IP address, which Google uses to work out an approximate location and then discards. What we see are aggregated reports, not a record of you. Google describes what it collects from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you prefer not to be counted, decline the cookies in the banner, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, which works on every site.

Do Not Track signals

There is still no common standard for how a website should respond to a browser's "Do Not Track" signal, so this site does not respond to it. The cookie banner and Google's opt-out add-on, described above, are the controls we offer instead.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and no longer.

For a form submission, that means for as long as we need it to answer you and to serve you afterward. Records of a completed order or a warranty claim are kept with our ordinary business records for as long as the law requires. Server logs and analytics records are kept for the short periods our providers set and are then deleted automatically.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner, within the limits described under "Your rights" below.

Marketing email

If you contact us, we may later write to you about DVIGear products, promotions, or programs related to what you asked about. Every message of that kind carries a one-click way to stop receiving them. You can also tell us to stop at any time by writing to the contact below, and we will act on that immediately.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we will only send you marketing email where the law allows it, which generally means either you asked us to or you are an existing customer and the message concerns similar products. You can refuse at the moment you give us your address and in every message afterward.

We do not sell or rent our mailing list.

Where your information is processed

DVIGear is in the United States, and the companies that handle information for us process it in the United States. If you are contacting us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred here, and United States law does not offer the same protections as European law.

Where personal information from Europe is transferred to the United States, we put in place the safeguards European law requires. If you would like to know more about them, write to us and we will tell you.

Your rights

Your rights depend on where you are. This section is in three parts: one for Europe, one for the United States, and one that explains how to make a request under either.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland

You have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
  • have information that is wrong corrected
  • have your information deleted
  • ask us to restrict how we use it
  • receive the information you gave us in a portable format
  • withdraw consent, where we relied on your consent, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it

You can tell us to stop. Separately from everything above, you have the right to object at any time to our using your information, including for direct marketing. If you object to marketing we will stop, always, with no questions and no delay. If you object to another use we will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, and if that ever happens we will explain them to you.

There are limits on some of these rights. We may have to keep certain information even after you ask us to delete it, for example records of a completed order, a warranty claim, or anything we need for tax, accounting, or to establish or defend a legal claim. If we cannot delete something you asked us to delete, we will tell you what we kept and why.

We do not make automated decisions about you that produce legal effects or otherwise significantly affect you.

You can also complain to your national data protection authority. You do not have to come to us first, though we would rather you did.

If you are in the United States

If the state you live in gives you rights over your personal information, write to us and we will honor them. DVIGear does not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

How to make a request

Write to us at privacy@dvigear.com or call 1.770.421.6699. We will ask enough to confirm who you are, so that we do not hand your information to somebody else, and we will answer within the time the law allows. If somebody makes a request on your behalf, we will ask for proof that you authorized it.

Children

This site sells professional audiovisual equipment to businesses and integrators. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and we require it. Form submissions travel encrypted from your browser to our servers and on to our mail. Access to the mailboxes that receive form submissions is limited to DVIGear staff who need it.

No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can say is that this site holds very little: there are no accounts, no passwords, and no payment details to lose.

Links to other sites

Our pages link out to our own profiles on LinkedIn, YouTube, and X, and sometimes to manufacturer or partner documentation. We do not control those sites, and this policy does not cover them.

Changes to this policy

We will post any change on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say what changed rather than leaving you to compare versions.
